The iconic 90s-era two-channel Dual Rectifier returns

The Dual Rectifier® Solo Head’s release in 1992 marked a new paradigm in high-gain heavy guitar. It delivered a new voice from MESA® Engineering featuring a scooped midrange, ominous low end, and ripping, harmonic-laden top end woven into a mighty wall of tube gain. With a feel as empowering as its sound, the Rectifiers provided an ease of playing that supported and elevated proficiency and was inspirational, rewarding, and addictive. Its sound and impact on the generation that used it to define what rock music would become were as sweeping as they have been lasting. It has gone on to become one of the most recorded and imitated tube amps ever, as well as arguably the most modeled in today’s digital amp landscape.

With harmonic-laden gain and ominous low end, the “Recto” became the foundation for radio-worthy songs whose main source of propulsion was huge Crunch rhythm and searing Lead or octave hooks. Its options for tuning the sound and feel made it the go-to for anyone needing maximum width and girth within a three-piece scenario, while its looks provided an aggressively styled backdrop.

With reverence and pride, we announce the 90s Dual Rectifier, a faithful recreation of the tube amp that redefined high gain and provided much of the soundtrack of a generation, with some welcome upgrades like improved cleans that enhance but don’t distract. Here’s a chance to own an original icon built by the same artisans who built them 30 years ago and have a new amp warranty. Don’t miss out!

About
Mesa Boogie 90s Dual Rectifier Black
The guitar amplifier that defined the sound of heavy music in the 1990s
The guitar amplifier that defined the sound of heavy music in the 1990s
Once in a while, a generational product comes along and changes the sound of music. When the MESA/Boogie Dual Rectifier® Solo Head arrived in 1992, it was a watershed moment for alternative rock and metal that changed everything. Heavy music would never sound the same again and the 90s Dual Rectifier’s crushing tone became the most sought-after guitar sound of the era - and it remains arguably the most modeled guitar tone in today’s digital amp landscape.

Now, the 90s Dual Rectifier is back with a vengeance, handcrafted in Petaluma, California, by the same artisans who made the originals the most desirable high-gain guitar amplifier of all time. MESA/Boogie® has faithfully recreated the original formula - complete with ominous low end, harmonically rich top end, and that unmistakable midrange scoop that fueled the soundtrack of an entire generation.
True to its roots with the same bold look
True to its roots with the same bold look
Now dressed in Black Bronco vinyl with a Black Diamond Plate grille, plus a Black/Chrome handle and leather corners, the 90s Dual Rectifier has the same bold look that once dominated stages worldwide. This combination of dressing required a custom configuration back in the day and became one of the most sought after looks of the era. More than just a reissue - it’s the triumphant return of a legend that changed rock and metal forever.

True to its roots, the 90s Dual Rectifier offers foot-switchable dual-channel simplicity that keeps your focus on playing, not tweaking. Each channel is voiced to capture the scorching high-gain crunch, searing leads, and remarkably expressive cleans that made the Rectifier a must-have for recording artists and touring musicians alike.
Innovation to replicate your favorite mode voicings
Innovation to replicate your favorite mode voicings
Thanks to the Channel Style/Cloning feature, you can even replicate your favorite mode voicings across both channels for a streamlined workflow. Add to that the Bias Select switch, which lets you choose between the stock 6L6 tubes or EL34s, and you’ve got a wealth of sonic options at your fingertips.

Innovation doesn’t stop there. One of the original Rectifier’s greatest advantages was its patented switchable rectifiers, allowing players to toggle between tube and silicon diode rectifier modes to dial in their preferred sound, character, and feel. A Variac switch further tailors the amp’s response, offering either a fierce attack for tighter riffs or an elastic, harmonically lush feel for those expressive lead lines. These features combine to deliver the best of both worlds—vintage-inspired authenticity with modern reliability and performance.
