It is a reed of American cut, long and elastic rasp, made from a segment of 3.6 mm thickness rectified to 3.18 mm leaving the rasp in a more morbid area, resulting in a darker sound.
The pronounced taper of the blak, which narrows more abruptly towards the back, leaves the tip freer to vibrate, so it is necessary to take careful consideration of its centring when placing it.
The scraping is characterised by having a thicker heart than a classic reed, this is compensated by a very pronounced scraping in the area of the shoulders that frees it in the vibration achieving an excellent balance between treble and very deep bass.
The tip of the reed is always made in the upper part of the segment, respecting the direction of growth of the reed, so that the tip of the reed is in the part where the fibres are the most perfect and are scraped by a brushing system.
The Arundo Donax used for the manufacture of Gonzalez FOF clarinet reeds comes from our own plantation in 3 de Mayo, Mendoza and only those perfect reeds pass the strict quality control imposed for this model, achieving quality standards never before achieved, the minimum time of storage is four years which gives the reed a unique stability.
