Boss HM2W Heavy Metal Distortion

When it was unveiled in 1983, the HM-2 was one of the first boxed amp pedals ever, using innovative BOSS circuitry to replicate the sound of early 1980s British stack amps favored in the heavy metal genrethat was increasing popularity. Toward the end of their production, Swedish death metal bands adopted the HM-2 for their lead guitar sounds, and its exceptionally aggressive sound and focused mids became highly popular among a new generation of musicians. The pedal's vast influence and popularity has led to constant requests for BOSS to re-produce it, and we are delighted to introduce the HM-2W to all of our dedicated fans around the world.

When the HM-2W is in Standard mode, the sound and response of the original HM-2 pedal is reproduced with 100% authenticity. We were also able to add some modern improvements without affecting the sound, including reducing background noise and expanding the maximum level by 3dB. And with premium Waza Craft buffer in-circuit, sound is enhanced when the pedal is bypassed. With the knobs all maxed out we have the sound of Swedish death metal, and you can combine a wide range of sounds for other styles with sensitive distortion and sound controls.

The HM-2W's Custom mode offers a similar sonic character to the Standard mode, but with a little more of everything. The drive stage offers a little more gain and includes more fundamental guitar sound for extra attack and clarity. In addition, the bass and mid-high characteristics have been modified to provide more intensity and definition.

In conjunction with the HM-2's original sound, we went to great lengths to capture the pedal's distinctive orange and black look, including the size and position of the letters on the panel. All Waza Craft pedals include a mode switch for extended range, and have been placed on top of the HM-2W to preserve the authentic HM-2 control setup.
