About

Where the Handpan is used and what effect it has
Where the Handpan is used and what effect it has
The clear and pure tones produced by hand have a relaxing and meditative effect on people, contributing to their well-being. Therefore, it is not surprising that Handpans have enjoyed increasing popularity in sound therapy for some time. Since the Handpan emits soothing sounds, it is perfect to be combined with other meditative instruments, such as Wave Drums.
How the Handpan is set up
How the Handpan is set up
Most Handpans consists of two hemispherical segments glued together, a central clay field, which generates the lowest tone, a ring of more clay fields on the upper side and an opening on the lower side. Different types of steel sheet, sheet thicknesses and manufacturing processes are used for the raw shapes.
How to play
To play the Handpan, it is positioned on the lap or a stand designed for that purpose. Tones can be produced by striking one or more tone fields with the flat of the hand. There are no limits to the playing technique, which means that new combinations and sequences can be played over and over again. There are no wrong notes on the Handpan. With a little practice, you'll quickly feel successful, not least thanks to the simple handling and intuitive play. This makes the Handpan a perfect instrument, also for players without previous musical experience.

Another special feature of Meinl Sonic Energy's Sensory series are the two resonance holes on the bottom of the Handpan. These are arranged so that one points to the player and the other to his listener, which ensures a comfortable volume for both parts. Additional tonal variance is provided by the included sound tubes. These can be easily removed or added and allow you to alter the tonal qualitites of your handpan.
