In 2019 we marked the fiftieth year of the PA division, and had the idea of producing a special model of the HS series that would feature even greater attention by Yamaha engineers. The HS series embodies the design philosophy on which Yamaha has long insisted for its studio monitors, and is now available as a special paired model that uses selected volume parts.

The paired model series bears the designation of MP (Matched Pair), and MP stickers are affixed to the back of each unit. Yamaha studio monitors
Yamaha Pro Audio's ambition and innovation dates back to 1969. Since selling Yamaha's first professional audio products, the VA120 and VA180 vocal amplification systems, Yamaha has continued to innovate to create a wide range of products for a wide range of applications including broadcast studios and commercial spaces such as mixing consoles, power amplifiers, speakers, processors and immersive sound solutions, each aiming to become the new standard in their respective markets. Studio monitors are one of the product areas that must be mentioned when talking about the fifty year history of Yamaha Pro Audio. The "NS10M STUDIO", which went on sale in 1977, was a reference studio monitor for countless sound engineers that gained a prominent role in studios around the world. In 1998, we launched the "MSP5" studio monitor, which set out to provide the minutely faithful reproduction of the original sound required of nearfield monitors. Subsequently, the MSP / MSP STUDIO series that emerged during the period from 2000 to 2008 and which largely benefited from the know-how and technology that Yamaha had accumulated in the field of professional studio monitor design, was offered for sale as top model capable of an impressive degree of perfection.
Keep the principle and improve it
Keep the principle and improve it
As a principle in the design of studio monitors, Yamaha has always insisted on fully faithful reproduction of the original sound and the ability to reproduce subtle changes in timbre and placement in the mix, these principles being exemplified in the HS series that appeared in 2005 with its bright white cones. As bit-rate and sample-rate capability continue to be market trends in the field of music production, they ultimately lead to a growing need for high quality proximity monitors, with the HS series being able to deliver the sound and high-quality accuracy ideal for the studio environment. In 2013, merging the experience and cutting-edge technology in the field of analysis that they have developed over many years of studio monitor design, carefully rethinking every element,

Also available is the HS-I model, a white model that has been tailored to the needs of those looking for a design that blends in with their studio interior, and comes equipped with mounting points and the ability to use speaker adapters that they can be mounted on a wall, ceiling or mounted on a stand for easier installation in a production studio or room sound installation. With a varied choice of models to respond to needs and various usage scenarios, the HS series is now desired by a still significant number of customers.

Continue towards the future
Continue towards the future
From the NS10M series, through the MSP series and then the HS series that Yamaha unquestionably became the standard for commercial proximity monitors, Yamaha has always insisted on "precision" as the design principle for its studio monitors. Aware that HS Series sound will be a new set of “eyes” (monitors) for sound engineers, we applied a special level of thought and intention to its completion. Ultimately true to the original sound and able to accurately reproduce the subtle changes of sound and position in the mix, the HS series of studio monitors updates these design principles that Yamaha has always insisted on. In the future, Yamaha will always continue to strive and innovate.
